PHILOSOPHY

Fred and Wendy Nunes live in the vineyard and they know every plant. They use ecologically sound sustainable farming practices whenever possible because it makes sense, integrating newfound information into their grape growing philosophy, which is based on sound science. As a systematic biologist, Fred considers himself part of the Vineyard's terroir, responsible for maintaining its harmony within the larger system, and an integral part of the wines that are made from their fruit.

He was named "Best New Grower", by winemaker, Greg La Follette in 2002. Fred runs the vineyard, trains and monitors the crew, implements his own integrated pest management program and manages all his own tractor work.

Having a background in business and graphic design, Wendy does everything else, though she has spent a little time on the tractor.
